Behind the Scenes Newborn Photo Shoot at Bumps, Babes and Beyond Photography!

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing 10 day old Zach, Sam and their wonderful parents.

At just 10 days old, they travelled from the other side of London to have their newborn photography session in my Ealing studio.
The session has stayed firmly in my memory as it was such a fantastic shoot and the photos came out so well. To this day it remains my favourite shoot as working with the twins was such a challenge, but so rewarding and so much fun.

A week or so after our session, Mum sent me an email containing all of these behind the scenes photos and captions, I was so touched and thought it was wonderful!

With her permission, I am putting it up as a featured session so that other prospective parents and clients can get a glimpse of what to expect – both the chaos on the day and the end results!

I have left Mum’s comments as is but added a few of my own underneath, in italics.

Behind the Scenes at a Bumps, Babes and Beyond Newborn Photoshoot

Sammy getting burped and prepped for his debut!

Zach holding a pose!

Such a dream to work with! I wanted to keep him!
As you can see, safety is a priority and someone is close by at all times ensuring the baby is safe should they move or startle.

Zach looking so lovely!

Daddy is exhausted already….look how small Zach is!

Cute.

Cuter.

Cutest!

Sammy does not want to go in….he is happy relaxing with Mommy!

Now now Sammy it wasn’t THAT bad was it?!  ;)

Adel lending a helping pair of hands!

Adel, you were a star. Cannot thank you enough for giving up your time to help. I still owe you a box of chocs!

Getting them posed!

More safety!

1, 2, 3, – LET GO!

Getting Sammy to relax….

The artiste!!

*Wince*. There’s a good reason I prefer hanging out BEHIND the camera….!

The baby whisperer…

Hands full….feeding, wiping, burping to get sleeping babies!

Kudos to Mum, just 10 days after a c-section as well. I just don’t know how she did it. So chilled, an inspiration!

Getting the twins ready for another pose!

The baby whisperer is at it again!

Adel is a pro!

I use natural light as much as I can for Newborn sessions, and it was a bit gloomy outside. Not really a problem with one baby but with two I wasn’t happy with the light distribution, so out came the reflector, problem solved!

Getting the perfect shot!

I’m not pregnant. I just look it.

Little gnomes – so cute!

Daddy’s turn!

He looks like a little body builder here!

Such chilled out little chaps between set ups. Wonderful.

More perfect shots!

So cute!

Little lambs…

More perfect shots!

Time for mommy to pose – a good thing she washed here hair today!

Mummy was gorgeous!!!

Daddy not so comfy in front of the camera!

Dads usually aren’t that happy in front of the lens and alas I am no comedian to make them laugh, but we get there in the end!!

A peek at the final shots…

I think this is my favourite ever photo. It’s a tough call as every photo has different memories for me, but I do love this. Something about the colours and pose just clicked for them. What wonderful boys.

Hard to imagine we made these 2 little beauties!

I love this one. I think it shows them being close and bonded but I was keen to avoid cheesy.

So cute!

I try to plan ahead for a shoot where I can, and I had a vision of putting the boys in vintage suitcases, sort of blue themed. I purchased the cases off eBay and had the hats custom made specifically for this shoot.
The end result came out exactly as I hoped it would  :)

Little lovely lambs!

Happy family!

Perfection!
